Anagha Deshpande

FOOD SCIENTIST & TECHNOLOGIST

Anagha joined RefineUS  as a Food Scientist and Technologist in April 2019. In the last 7 years, Anagha has served in several food safety related positions for medium sized to multi-national companies. She has significant experience with FDA, USDA, state and local health departments. In her most recent role as a Food Innovation Engineer at the University of Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center, Anagha has helped several small and mid-size food manufacturers in Utah grow their business through certifications such as: SQF, GMP, and FSMA.

Her favorite part about this job is helping manufacturers and interacting with the clients. Apart from staying up to date with the local and global food safety regulations, Anagha enjoys travelling and hiking with her husband, fitness activities, and dancing. Her favorite saying to live by is “It’s nice to be important but it is really important to be nice!’

Lauren Jones

FOUNDER & CEO

Lauren obtained her Culinary Arts Degree from Johnson and Wales in Denver, CO in 2007. Upon moving back to the Kansas City area, she started her restaurant career as a pantry cook. With hard work and dedication, she achieved the rank of executive chef. Having accomplished many of her goals within the restaurant industry, Lauren shifted her focus to another aspect of the business. She spent the next few years as the Corporate Chef and a Sales Representative for Liberty Fruit Company.

In 2016, Lauren founded Refine and spent the next few years consulting with a number of clients in the Kansas City area. Having identified needs that reached beyond her own personal knowledge, in 2019, she took steps to expand the offerings of Refine and to rebrand the company as RefineUS. Her focus today is on the management and growth of this new frontier of the business.

Lauren’s favorite part of her job is when she can help clients overcome obstacles that have been standing in their way. In her time away from work, Lauren enjoys cooking, fitness/boxing, spending time with her husband and two French bulldogs, and traveling (mostly to experience food and wine). A saying Lauren lives by in life and in business is, “take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.”
